Matilda the Musical
Matilda the Musical is a theatrical production by the Royal Shakespeare Company, based on the 1988 children's novel "Matilda" by Roald Dahl. The musical was conceived by playwright Dennis Kelly and composer Tim Minchin. It premiered in November 2010 at the Royal Shakespeare Theatre in Stratford-upon-Avon before transferring to London's West End and later to Broadway. The show has been critically acclaimed, receiving numerous awards and nominations, including several Tony Awards. It tells the story of a precocious five-year-old girl with extraordinary intelligence and telekinetic powers, who overcomes adversities caused by her family and school principal to change her destiny. The company continues to perform and tour internationally, promoting themes of resilience and empowerment through the arts.
